KAREN KANE

Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, Karen had a love affair with clothes. As a young girl she knew her future held a career in fashion design. After graduating high school and receiving a degree in fashion design, she was on her way.

BAILEY 44

It began in 2006, when two female fashion industry veterans, one who ran her own business and handled sales and the other who was a designer, decided to create a line that was sexy, interesting, ageless and wearable — all the looks that they wanted for themselves, but couldn’t find in stores. The goal was to have a line that was cool and understated, sexy but not overt, modern, relevant, well made, and most importantly, that really fit. The result was Bailey 44.

BARBARA LESSER

Barbara Lesser, designer of casual contemporary sportswear and dresses, launched a highly successful business based on her own desire to look good yet remain comfortable during her hectic life. Whether setting a new season’s color palette or rushing through her very active life, Lesser wants exactly what her customer has come to expect – comfort and ease of care in a beautiful, fashionable, feminine package. This innovative entrepreneur knows from experience that adapting to change and evolving a business to meet market demands is the way not only to survive, but also thrive in the fashion industry.

PETIT POIS

Petit Pois is the brainchild of Viviana Gabeiras, a Fashion Designer for 32 years and a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York. Viviana became involved in fashion design in 1978 in her native Venezuela when she opened her own store where she created her own designs as well as imported designer labels from Italy and Spain.
